Donald A. Delahunt, attorney, 89, of Providence, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bianca (Carella) Delahunt. Born in Chicopee, MA, he was the son of the late Harold and Winifred (Bird) Delahunt. Mr. Delahunt was a graduate of Providence College and Harvard Law School. He was a practicing attorney in Pawtucket and Providence for 54 years until his retirement in 2003. He served in World War II as a bomber pilot flying 37 missions over Germany and was honorably discharged as a Captain of the US Army Air Corps. He was a past member of the RI Bar Association, American Bar Association, Pawtucket Bar Association, former 4 th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the University Club where he loved the game of squash. He is survived by a son, Harold Delahunt and his wife Sherry of North Kingstown, three daughters, Donna Biafore and her husband John of Cranston, Judith Verrier of New York City, and Patricia Smith of Pennsylvania, nine grandchildren, David and Derek Delahunt, Christopher, Andrew, and Daniel Biafore, Ashleigh and Kyle Verrier, and Michelle and Jennifer Brewer, two great grandchildren, Francesa Biafore and Christopher Biafore Jr., he also leaves his brother Frank Delahunt of Cumberland. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 8:30am from the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Leo The Great Church, 697 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Tuesday 8:30-9:30am, prior to the mass.
